Our Commitments
Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® comes directly from nature. As the first U.S. beverage company to build and run a PET recycling (rPET) plant, we’re able to recycle nearly one billion bottles worth of plastic a year, which means we’re not just talking about sustainability — we’re taking action for the planet. We’re not just environmentally friendly, we’re activists partnering with non-profits, charitable organizations, and conservation trusts to protect the land and communities surrounding our sources. We don’t just do this for the good of the water. We do it to help protect the planet and the communities where we live and work.
Recycled Plastic Packaging – rPET
In 2019, we became the first U.S. beverage company to build and open its own recycled plastic, or “rPET,” plastic plant in San Bernardino, CA. At the plant, we accept sorted, cut, cleaned, and recycled flakes of plastic from recycling partners. We then reprocess the flakes into rPET pellets, performing further purity checks on every batch and then shipping them to our California bottling plants to create new bottles for Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water®. Working primarily with Greater Los Angeles recycling centers, we can reuse the equivalent of nearly 1 billion plastic bottles per year (about 35 million pounds a year), reprocessing that material into brand new bottles of Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water®. One big step in closing the loop on single use plastic bottle waste.
Plugging into Solar Power
We installed over 2,800+ solar panels on the roof of our San Bernardino rPET processing plant in June 2021, and this sustainable energy source now constitutes over 20% of this plant’s daily electrical needs, with the ability to generate over 90% of its power when the sun is at its zenith. In just one year, this facility has generated over 1.76 GWh of energy and has saved over 2.7 million pounds in CO2 emissions* — roughly the equivalent of planting over 20 thousand trees — since our solar panels first came online. These panels are another example of our ongoing commitment to sustainability.

American Forests
We are proud to sponsor the reforestation efforts of American Forests. Founded in 1875, it’s the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizens conservation organization and a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration. In our partnership with American Forests, we have planted 50,000 trees each year since 2001, for a grand total of more than 900,000 trees. Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® also donates thousands of bottles of our product to keep American Forests’ volunteers hydrated during tree planting projects.
California Coastal Commission
Beginning in 2008, Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® has been a proud sponsor of the California Coastal Commission’s California Coastal Cleanup Day, the country’s premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment. Since the Coastal Cleanup’s inaugural year of 1985 where a little over 2,500 people took action, this day of service now includes 1.3 million volunteers, removing 22 million pounds of debris from the state’s coast, shorelines and waterways in just a single day.
UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital
As part of our commitment to health and well-being, we are proud to support UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. There are many who are unable to afford proper healthcare, and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital provides the very best care to all children, regardless of a family’s ability to pay. An important member of the community, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital contributes more than $140 million in charity and public benefit health care annually in order to ensure children get a little extra help to lead healthier lives.
Walk MS - National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Crystal Geyser® Alpine Spring Water® is the official water for Walk MS events in California, Florida and New York. For too long, 400,000+ Americans and their families have suffered the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. But with an annual participation of over 200,000 people raising more than $50 million a year, together we have brought the world one giant step closer to a cure.
